Computer Science is everywhere: Unlike most other sciences, it is present in almost every part of our lives. Even in places where it is working in the background - datacenters, cell phones, cars or various home appliances - we use information technology to regulate, drive, measure, and alert.

The course Angewandte Informatik (engl.: "Applied computer science") of the Ruhr-University Bochum is innovative, because it teaches interdisciplinary applied knowledge of many areas. You will learn to work like in the IT industries, because of cross- course projects and exercises with electrical- and mechanical engineers, economists and linguists and more.

The program has been part of the Faculty of Computer Science since October 2021; prior to that, it was organized under the leadership of the Institute for Neuroinformatics (INI), a central scientific institution, since 2013.

If you are interested in applying for this course, for Bachelor or Master, from outside of Germany and/or without having a German citizenship, you have to contact the central "International Office" of the university.

You can refer to the international students page for more information.

For inquiries to people in authority refer to the "Contacts" pages.
